Welcome to Peer Counseling!
Peer Counseling is a service that allows for EVHS students to connect with trained peers who can provide mental, social, and emotional guidance. Through offering individual and group counseling sessions, as well as our own podcast episodes, we seek to empower students by addressing various experiences and perspectives that exist within our community. We are available during all school hours in the Wellness Center, and can be reached through email, real-life request, or through the form listed below!
Confidentiality!
As peer counselors, we are committed to providing you with protected mental health services while respecting your personal information. Peer Counseling's #1 mission is to create an environment that is secure and safe for students to receive the care they need! Confidentiality is one of our top priorities that we aim to maintain in order for students and our counselors to build a trusting relationship with each other. We hope that our ethical standards will enhance a secure environment for students to discuss their feelings. However, there are exceptions necessary that our counselors are required to break confidentiality:
1. Self-harm
2. Harming of others
3. Being harmed by others
4. Substance or drug usage
If a student were to inform a peer counselor of any of these four topics, we are trained to let Mrs. Graves know immediately. Understand that this is a boundary that will keep everyone safe, not an attempt to get any student into trouble! With that in mind, anything else shared with a peer counselor will be kept confidential.
